Drivers and loading dock workers for Uni First Corporation in West Caldwell, New Jersey were exposed to blood borne pathogens and lead hazards according to a judge from The Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. The ruling on September 30th confirmed OSHA’s citation for contaminated laundry and work surface at this facility.
The judge found out that most workers had not received the Hepatitis B vaccine nor signed the form for the declination of the vaccine. In some cases, some employees weren’t given the option to receive the vaccine until long after being hired. The company’s management falsified training sheets, forced employees to sign the training sheets without actually receiving the training and even went to the extent of forging employees signatures. They also allowed training to be conducted by non qualified trainers in the subjects.
