OSHA has announced the dates for their Safety Stand-Down to prevent falls in construction. This event takes place from May 4th to May 15th. Last year, tens of thousands of employers and more than 1 million workers joined in OSHA for a little less than two weeks for their Fall Safety Stand-Down. This event was the largest occupational safety event in the United States.
The stand down demonstrates what can be accomplished if workers and employers share a commitment. Secretary of Labor, Thomas E. Perez stated that “With the economy on the rebound and housing starts on the rise, now is the time for all of us to renew our commitment in sending workers home every night”
During the stand-down, employees and employers will pause during the workday to discuss how to prevent falls with talks and demonstrations.
