On April 2, 2015, OSHA launched the National Workplace Violence Prevention month by releasing an update to their Guidelines for Preventing Workplace Violence for Healthcare and Social Services Workers. These violence prevention guidelines include the industry’s best practices and the most effective ways to reduce the risk of violence.
In 2013 the Bureau of Labor statistic reported over 23,000 significant injuries due to assaults in the workplace. Over 70% of these injuries were in healthcare and social service settings. This sector is four times more vulnerable to workplace assaults than any other service in the private sector.
